PETRAKO LTD.
Petrako Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Company ("Petrako") is a private Turkish company engaged in the exploration, development, and production of petroleum and natural gas in Turkey. Since Petrako was established in 1997, the Company has executed a number of transactions and JV partnerships whereas currently holds interests in 3 production leases in Edirne provence (NW Turkey) totaling 20.000 ha.
Petrako is pursuing conventional shallow natural gas and a potentially significant tight gas resource plays in the Thrace Basin. By applying 2D and 3D seismic technology, international expertise for evaluation and interpretation of plays and prospects, Petrako is aiming to achieve commercial scale operations from shallow gas resources from the region. This upstream program is complemented by ownership of gas gathering and sales infrastructure (via national pipeline network) to support direct marketing of natural gas to end users.
Natural gas is currently produced from six wells that are completed in Tertiary-aged sands in the Osmancik formation at a depth of approximately 300 metres. The gas is relatively lean and requires only dehydration and compression to meet sales specifications. The gas is processed at the surface facility which is tied into the pipeline system located nine kilometres from the plant and operated by national gas transmission company, BOTAS. The gas is sold to one of Turkey's largest gas and power wholesalers. Sales from the Edirne Licence began in April 2010 whereas Petrako's natural gas sales in Turkey by the first quarter of 2015 has reached 150 Million m3.
For the oil, Petrako's strategy is to build a portfolio of quality 'production with upside potential' assets along the near-term production or production-capable oil fields in Turkey.
